Former Florence City Councilmember arrested, facing felony charge for sex assault on a child

FLORENCE, Colo. (KRDO) -- Monday, Fremont County Detectives arrested former Florence City Councilmember Anthony Esquibel.

Esquibel, 68, was taken into custody for sexual assault on a child, a class 4 felony charge. He is currently being held without bond at the Fremont County jail.

Esquibel formerly served on Florence City Council, before resigning back in March amid an ongoing corruption scandal in the city.
