On Tuesday, Hanratty was at the Pueblo County Justice Center for a plea sentencing hearing. Defense attorneys say that negotiations with prosecutors are ongoing, but for now, they have entered a not guilty plea. That plea has tentatively set a trial date for June 1.
According to the Colorado Peace Office Standards and Training Office database, Hanratty resigned from the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office while under investigation on April 15, 2025. He was charged by the Pueblo District Attorney's Office several months later, in June.
Hanratty's arrest warrant alleges that he misused over $17,000 in union dues from 41 Pueblo County Sheriff’s employees for more than two years. Hanratty, who was the vice president of the Fraternal Order of Police, allegedly deposited the funds into personal and business accounts under his control.
