Family of Pueblo man still without answers one year after his murder
PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- It has been one year since Rudy Baca was shot and killed in a Pueblo alley. His family and the police are still searching for answers about what happened that October night.
According to the Pueblo Police Department, officers responded to reports of multiple gunshots fired around 10:48 p.m. near the 900 block of E. 3rd St. on Oct. 7, 2021. At the scene, police found two men in an alley.
Police say Baca and an unidentified man were walking in the area when they were shot. Both were taken to a local hospital. According to police, the other victim survived.
Baca, however, died that night.
Now, a little over a year later, the Baca family is still left heartbroken with little to no answers about what happened to him.
Tuesday, they told KRDO they hope anyone who knows anything will come forward.

"I just wish anybody who knew anything would speak up, even if it's just a small detail. I mean, our hearts will forever hurt. But I feel like when we get justice and whoever did this is behind bars, I feel like it'll bring us a little peace. Not knowing anything and knowing that the killer's still walking free scares me," said Shauntel Baca, Rudy's daughter.
The Pueblo Police Department is asking the public for help solving this murder. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Jose Martinez at 719-320-6006 or the Pueblo Police Dispatch at 719-553-2502.
