Local woman donates $30,000 in medical supplies to those in need
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Bridget Serrit co-founded an organization called CPRC Colorado Medical Supply Rescue and Exchange. It's a non-profit organization that donates and lends medical items to those in need.
Serrit, who suffers from autoimmune diseases, rheumatoid arthritis and lupus says her goal is to give back to the community. She says, "It’s incredibly common for special needs families to have to fight for literally everything for oxygen supplies to durable medical equipment."
The non-profit organization has helped over 50 patients over the past 18 months and given out over $30,000 in medical supplies. Several of the supplies and items come from people who have passed away in hospice. The Medical Lending Closet also provides non-prescription supplies.
Serrit says, “When I’m out in my community, I know that I’m doing something positive. I’m hoping others and I know that this is actually changing their environment that we’re in.” Serrit adds, "I feel like I’m the winner in this. I get to meet the patients, hear the stories and see these incredible acts of beauty that just go unlooked."
The Medical Lending Closet currently operates in three locations, all through volunteer work.
