Local chocolate shop gives care packages to small businesses
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The COVID-19 lock down hasn't been friendly to small business owners. As long as all of us are dealing with this, we sometimes need a pick me up. That's where Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory comes in. They've been dropping off care packages of chocolate to other Colorado Springs small businesses.
"I simply just wanted to let them know that Rocky Mountain Chocolate is cheering for you," says general manager Robyn Frier. "It's not just about the small businesses, it's about the entire community. of course, there was a little confusion as to why we are doing this. Of course I would say, we are just here supporting you and want to make your day a little bit brighter. We've been in business for over 37 years. My family has been involved the last 20 years. It's something very special to us. The Colorado Springs community means the world to us."
Based on tips they got about business who might need some sunshine in their day, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory started making deliveries. They've hooked up places like Susie's Westside Cafe, the Caffeinated Cow, and several others. They're not getting stingy with the chocolate. In fact, they're packing these bags with about three pounds of chocolate.
"It's not just about the business owners, it's all about their teams, their extended family," Frier says. "I know our team is an extension of our family. So we wanted to make sure that they were taken care of as well. People just love chocolate. Who cares about the question? Chocolate is the answer."
