Colorado Springs Conservatory holds online ‘Jazz Nite’
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado Springs Conservatory held its second online "Jazz Nite" Friday.
The conservatory was able to stream their first concert to 80 people. Thanks to high demand, Friday's show was available to 500. The concert was put on remotely, over Zoom, by conservatory jazz mentors, alumni, students and special guests.
Even during a pandemic, the recipe for the event was simple.
"Just a little bit of love," said conservatory founding CEO Linda Weise. "Thank God for technology. It's really about coordinating the artists. Each artist performs individually. It's been wonderful to see each artist present."
It's not bad for a date-night-at-home atmosphere.
"We are terribly grateful that the community supports [us]," Weise said. "If supporting means sitting in your living room, or sitting on your back deck with a glass of wine, great! Kudos to the community. It takes a village. People miss their music. They miss live music. It just made sense."
A lot of us are leaning on the arts to get through the pandemic. For some of us, it's binge watching Netflix. For others, it's jazz.
"We've never lost sight of our 'why', our purpose. It just made absolute sense and nobody said that was going to be too hard. It's about connecting. It's just a lot of love and you feel it."
