Cheyenne Mountain State Park offers unlimited days through May 1 with purchase of single day pass
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Colorado Parks and Wildlife is offering an incentive to visit Cheyenne Mountain State Park. It comes as a request from El Paso County officials, who say that overcrowding at county parks and open spaces is making it difficult to social-distance.
A statement from CPW sent to KRDO on Friday said that urban area parks are experiencing heavy use as residents try to recreate locally to abide by the governor's stay-at-home order.
Cheyenne Mountain, meanwhile, still has room to spare.
“Cheyenne Mountain State Park visitation is up significantly over previous years, but, unlike many other state parks that are at capacity, we still have room for day users of our trail system,”
said Park Manager Mitch Martin at Cheyenne Mountain State Park. “We are trying to support the county and city and take some pressure off of their parks and open spaces."
As an incentive to choose Cheyenne Mountain instead, CPW is offering a deal. Visitors who purchase a daily park pass from a Cheyenne Mountain self-service kiosk between Saturday, April 25 and Thursday, April 30, can use that one pass to access the park an unlimited number of days that week through May 1.
The single day pass, valued at $9, could be used up to seven days. Visitors can also convert their $9 day pass toward an annual pass, Aspen Leaf Annual Pass or a Family Pass -- an offer only valid at Cheyenne Mountain, said CPW.
The visitor center remains closed at Cheyenne Mountain due to COVID-19 restrictions. Visitors who'd like to redeem the pass offer will need to call the park Visitor Center between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at 719-576-2016.
