Police: Missing teen who was taken to Colorado now reported safe

COLORADO (KRDO) -- The missing teenager who was reportedly taken by her father and seen in Colorado earlier this year has been found safe, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Daphne Westbrook, who was taken by her father in 2019, was found in Samson Alabama, TBI reported Friday. Investigators said in March that Daphne was seen in the Denver area in November 2020, and that John had spent several weeks in the Pueblo area in early 2021.

Westbrook was being held against her will and couldn't communicate with the outside world, according to authorities. Friday, the Hamilton County District Attorney's Office reported that she's safe and "no longer being hidden."

Authorities are still looking for the teen's father, John Westbrook, who faces criminal charges. The district attorney's office said the investigation remains active and they "expect new developments within the next couple of weeks."
