Colorado Springs woman adapts new lifestyle following breast cancer diagnosis
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - After receiving her breast cancer diagnosis, Shawnee Starr knew she had to make her health a priority.
Starr was a senior executive at an international company at the time and was used to eating whatever was available and was constantly stressed.
"I began immediately changing my regime of what I did. From the water I drank to the type of food and exercise," Starr said.
One of the biggest things Starr struggled with was stress. She now uses the gym and coloring books as a form of stress relief.
"Through this journey, I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what's important to me. I've tried to put myself first. I've tried to spend more quality time with the people who matter the most to me," Starr said.
Starr's newfound passion for health and wellness inspired her to start Extravagant Wellness, a company that provides resources to get you on the path towards a happier, healthier life.
"Your mindset does make a difference. As soon as you really put yourself first, you can heal and you can live."
Join Starr and other breast cancer survivors in the fight against breast cancer by participating in the virtual More Than Pink Walk on Sunday, September 27.
