El Paso Co. Search & Rescue hosting annual ‘Rescue Run’ on New Year’s Day

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) - The El Paso County Search and Rescue team hopes you can help them ring in the new year.

The Search and Rescue Team is hosting the 46th annual 'Rescue Run' at Bear Creek Park on New Year's Day and they are expecting to be joined by hundreds of runners.

Many people don't know this, but the group's yearly budget comes mostly from public donations. They receive a few grants throughout the year but fundraisers are crucial in supporting the all-volunteer organization.

"We as members purchase our own equipment but we have snow cats, we have all sorts of vehicles, we have razers, we have a facility; so a lot of this money will go to help with that operational cost."

All proceeds form the race will go to support the Search and Rescue Team.

The run will happen at 10 a.m. on New Year's Day.
