Pueblo 3rd grader wins ‘Fire Chief for a Day’ essay contest

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) - A third-grader at Haaf Elementary School in Pueblo had a day Thursday he'll likely never forget.

Joseph Minjares is this year's winner of the 'Fire Chief for a Day' essay contest.

Winning the essay contest came with a classroom visit Thursday, some awesome gear, a trip downtown to tour a fire station and pizza!

In his essay, where he explained why he'd make a great chief, Joseph wrote, "I will try my best to be fearless, just like you."

Kudos to Pueblo School District 60 and the Pueblo Fire Department for finding such an amazing way to inspire the next generation of firefighters.
