Officer-involved shooting, which resulted in the suspect and a K9 dying, was ruled as justified

MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Friday, the 4th Judicial District Attorney's (DA) Office determined an officer-involved shooting, which resulted in the death of the suspect, was justified.
The DA's Office spent the last few months reviewing the April 11, 2022 shooting.
According to an investigation, the suspect, identified by CSPD as 67-year-old Wilford Robert DeWeese, was killed after he shot at police. According to CSPD, at least one Manitou Springs police officer and one El Paso County Sheriff's deputy fired shots from their duty weapon.
The incident also resulted in the death of El Paso County K-9 Jinx.
Since the incident resulted in death, the DA's office said multiple agency teams, called A Deadly Force Investigation Team, investigated the shooting.
The shooting has since been ruled justified
The DA said in a statement, "after completing a thorough review of the facts and evidence, Colorado’s 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office has determined the use of deadly physical force by Manitou Springs Police Officers Hoover and Schuelke and El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies Hancock and LeBaron was justified based on all the facts and circumstance of this case under the law of the State of Colorado."
The DA also said that all El Paso County deputies and Manitou officers involved had their Body Worn Cameras activated, and their recordings of this incident were successfully downloaded in their entirety.
