Kid inspectors give new, $8.5 million Panorama Park two thumbs up
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Panorama Park underwent an official inspection Tuesday morning by those who will love it most - kids.
Wearing highlighter yellow "inspector" vests, kids ages 5-7 tested out all the playground equipment in the new 8.5 million dollar park. Though the park doesn't officially open until Aug. 20, the kids went through all of the features and excitedly gave the park "two thumbs up."
Jacob Butterfield, the Park Construction Manager, said watching the kids love the park they had been working for so long was incredible.
"I've been a playground inspector for eight years with Parks and Rec," said Butterfield. "I've worked for Parks and Rec for about 25 years, and it's all about what you see here. I mean, when you're able to build something like this and then have them come out and have fun. It's really great.”
And the kids had lots to share too, saying their favorite features were the slide, monkey bars, and the self-titled "spinny things."
“It’s like super fun, and you get to do awesome things like spin around on the spinny red things,” said one of the kids, Kingston.
Another, Jazlyn, pointed out the slide saying, "it’s very fun because there’s slides and they have rolly, rolly things and you can slide down them and whenever you stand up, it goes faster.”
Even more kids will be able to enjoy the park when it opens Aug. 20. The park will celebrate with a grand opening, which you can learn more about here.
