Night two of the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo is underway

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The 81st Annual Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo is on its second night here in Colorado Springs.

The rodeo has been a regional staple and is now being recognized on a national level.

The Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo is now an NFR open.

This means that the already high-quality competitors are being joined by even more top competitors from across North America. There is also more prize money this year.

More than 200 contestants from each of the 12 U.S. Circuits (plus Canada) will be competing in Bareback Riding, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping, Saddle Bronc Riding, Tie-down Roping, Breakaway Roping, Barrel Racing, and Bull Riding. Women's breakaway roping is being added this year too.

On Saturday night, the national circuit champions will be crowned.

Tickets are expected to sell out but they are still on sale here.
