Letecia Stauch expected to be moved to Pueblo State Hospital soon
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Letecia Stauch has been held in custody accused of a slew of charges after allegedly killing her 11-year-old stepson, but she'll soon be moved to a state hospital in Pueblo for a competency evaluation to see if she can stand trial.
Stauch wasn't present during a status hearing Friday, but prosecutors said they expect her to be taken to the state hospital early next week. Friday's status hearing was largely procedural, but prosecutors asked for the ability to gather records to send to the competency evaluator, and they set dates for Stauch's next court appearances.
Stauch is facing multiple felony charges in the death of Gannon Stauch, who was reported missing in late January in the Lorson Ranch neighborhood and later found dead in Florida.
She was arrested in early March. Stauch is also facing charges related to an alleged escape plot from the El Paso County Jail.
Stauch will be back in court on Sept. 8, and prosecutors expect to have the results of the competency evaluation by then.
