Otero Co. deputy, suspect stabbed
OTERO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) - An Otero County Sheriff's deputy is recovering after they were stabbed by a man.
The deputy was responding to reports of a possible domestic violence incident Sunday afternoon, in the Swink area. The Sheriff's Office says the vehicle was stopped in Manzanola when the suspect, Anthony Guerra, stabbed the deputy in the face before turning the knife on himself.
A woman and children were inside the vehicle at the time and got out safely. Both the deputy and Guerra were taken to the hospital, and are expected to make full recoveries.
Guerra, from Pueblo, was arrested on four outstanding warrants and is facing additional charges stemming from this incident.
