Survival ranch being built in Colorado

We’ve all heard of preppers; people who prepare for major disasters whether it be a nuclear fallout, flu epidemic or natural disaster that could completely change our way of life. It’s something most people don’t think about, but here in Colorado, there is actually a ranch being built that acts as a safe haven if that were to ever happen. It’s so secretive that the owner of the ranch asked us not to release the location. All we can say is that it is west of Colorado Springs.

It’s called Fortitude Ranch. A family vacation spot during good times, and a place for survival during the bad. One has already opened in West Virginia and the next to be opened is the one in Colorado. Dr. Drew Miller the CEO and founder of the ranch says it’s meant to endure the most cataclysmic disasters, “we are basically built to withstand anything we can think of.”

Miller worked for the Department of Defense and wrote several articles about epidemics. He says it’s not if a disaster happens it’s when. “Experts say a natural pandemic is overdue,” says Miller.

The ranch is in the very early stages of being built but once it is complete, it will be up against a mountain surrounded by trees with the front of the compound facing an open field. There will be underground bunkers, solar panels, enough supplies for at least 50 people, a wall surrounding the entire complex with nine guard towers overlooking the entire area. Miller says everyone who is a part of the ranch will play a part. “They are trained to grab their weapon go to their assigned part of the line and basically defend ourselves,” says Miller.

Even though the ranch is still being built they already have members. Lisa Cohen signed up for Fortitude Ranch because she believes a catastrophe will happen and wants to be prepared no matter what happens. “I always have plan A as my primary, but I have B, C, and D ready to go and this is my plan B here,” says Cohen, “I think it’s important to have somewhere to go not if but when something happens.”

Hopefully, a disaster doesn’t happen within the next year. Fortitude Ranch Colorado is set to be up and running by the middle of 2019.

To become a member, it costs $1,000 per year, but since it is not complete yet, the cost of membership is cheaper. Miller tells us he is planning on building more ranches across the country.
