Garden of the Gods Park ranked as a top attraction in the world
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO)-- This week, Tripadvisor released their 2022 awards. Garden of the Gods Park is ranked #9 in the world in top attractions and #2 in the country.
"It’s up there with the Coliseum, and the Empire State Building, the Roman Baths, the Trevi fountain in Rome, it’s remarkable," said Doug Price the president of Visit Colorado Springs.
On Thursday morning, Garden of the Gods Park was busy as usual with Jeep tours, people walking, and packed parking lots.
According to Visit Colorado Springs, 23.7 million people visited the Pikes Peak Region in 2021.
"During the pandemic people still continued to come and those numbers are up significantly not only over 2020 but over 2019 as well," said Price.
The Germanceri family is visiting from Illinois.
"This is like the first morning we’re here, but checking it off the list first," said Kristin Germanceri.
Marsha Johnston traveled from Ohio and is making it one of her final stops.
"We are on our way back home. This is a tale end of a two-week trip," said Johnston.
For all the visitors we talked to Garden of the Gods Park makes a pretty good first impression.
"It’s just absolutely gorgeous. We came here way early before the sun and the crowds," said Sophia Smith from Texas.
Each year, more than four million people visit the Garden of the Gods. Price says a ranking like this one is advertising you can pay for.
"Earlier last year Colorado Springs was ranked number seven as an emerging destination in the world and it’s our incredible outdoor attractions and outdoor experiences like Garden of the Gods Park that really put us on that list," said Price.
