Man accused of plotting CSU Pueblo shooting out on bond
PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO)-- Late Thursday night CSU-Pueblo students were notified the man accused of plotting an active shooting on campus was released on bail. Students were sent an alert notification that Robert Killis had posted bond on October 7th at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Killis was arrested on September 21st after detectives with the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office found a large cache of loaded weapons in his possession, including a semi-automatic rifle and nearly 1,000 rounds of ammunition on campus grounds. The alert to students said, CSU-Pueblo is working closely with the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office.

There is a temporary civil protection order in place as well as a no trespass on campus order against Killis. If he is seen on campus, witnesses are urged to call 911 immediately.
The alert to students recognized that Killis' release could be triggering to students, "If you are in need of counseling during this time, please contact the CSU-Pueblo Counseling Center at 719-549-2838 which is available 24/7. The CSU Pueblo Counseling Center is located in the Center for Integrated Health and Human Inquiry in Room 174."
CSU Pueblo also shared the following general safety tips:
- Be aware of your surroundings
- Try not to walk alone after dark
- Keep emergency numbers handy
- Trust your instincts, especially when you feel something is "not right"
- Be aware of what you post on the internet and social media
- Do not prop open campus building doors, especially residential buildings
- Do not accept drinks from strangers
- Avoid being alone in isolated areas
- If you suspect someone is dangerous, call police and do not engage with them
According to CSU-Pueblo, security conducts frequent, high visibility and nightly security walkthroughs on campus and in residence halls.
Any member of the CSU-Pueblo community can call a deputy or campus service officer to accompany them to a specific building to to their car. This service is available by calling (719) 549-2838 at any time of day, any day of the year.
