Barry Morphew appears in court after arrest for first-degree murder
SALIDA, Colo. (KRDO) -- Barry Morphew appeared in a courtroom for the first time Thursday following his arrest for first-degree murder in the disappearance of his wife, Suzanne Morphew.
Morphew faces charges of first-degree murder, along with tampering with evidence and attempting to influence a public servant. He was arrested near Salida Wednesday morning, almost a year after Suzanne was reported missing.
Suzanne was first reported missing on Mother's Day in 2020. Barry claims that she went on a bike ride and never returned, and he posted a video online a week later pleading for her to return safely.
Thursday, Barry appeared in court to hear the charges against him. He's still in custody in Chaffee County with no bond, currently.
Suzanne's body hasn't been found, authorities confirmed Wednesday. It's not clear what evidence police have against Barry, but District Attorney Linda Stanley told KRDO her office is confident in the case.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
