DENVER (AP) - Parts of Colorado began allowing elective surgeries and other activities after the governor eased some restrictions aimed at stopping the spread of the coronavirus.

However, the Denver area remained under strict stay-home orders imposed by local officials.

The “safer at home” order issued Sunday by Democratic Gov. Jared Polis allows the surgeries, real estate showings and curbside pickup from retail stores. Those stores can fully re-open Friday along with hair salons and barber shops.

Polis said the moves are not a “free-for-all” and life will remain more dangerous than usual. He urged people to stay home as much as possible and wear masks in public.
