PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office is investigating a domestic violence incident that led to a standoff Monday morning, but the suspect is in custody and is facing multiple charges, including second-degree kidnapping.

It started Monday morning when a woman was being taken in a truck on Highway 50 going west. The sheriff's office says the woman was waving her hands and asking for help, and eventually she was able to get out of the truck on E. 16th Street.

Deputies with the sheriff's office investigated and learned the woman had been taken against her will by 41-year-old Daniel Montano after a domestic violence incident in Boone. PCSO says deputies responded and found that Montano barricaded himself inside a house on E. 16th Street.

Pueblo Police and SWAT officers were called, and Montano surrendered peacefully after a brief standoff. PCSO says Montano is facing charges of second-degree kidnapping, obstruction of telephone service, restraining order violation, domestic violence, two counts of second-degree assault, and two counts of revocation of bail bond.

According to the sheriff's office, Montano had recently been released from jail in Denver for a domestic violence charge against the same victim.

The victim was taken to the hospital and was treated for her injuries.
