Pueblo police investigate 10th homicide of 2026

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- Pueblo Police Department (PPD) reports that they are investigating a homicide that occurred on July 12 near the 400 block of Morrison Avenue.

Police say they responded to a report of a shooting around 9:54 a.m. PPD confirms that the suspect was the one who made the report and stayed on scene until officers arrived.

According to law enforcement, when they arrived, they located one dead male and placed the suspect in custody. The victim has been identified by the Pueblo County Coroner as 54-year-old Brian J. Hund.

PPD says the suspect has since been released pending further investigation.

This marks the city's 10th homicide in 2026, according to PPD.
