Storm chances increasing, with cooler weather and the risk for Flash Flooding

After another hot day, we do have a chance for some scattered showers and thunderstorms this evening for most areas along the I-25 Corridor. We could see some strong wind gusts in and around the storms that do develop. It will be on the breezy side with winds out of the northeast at around 5 to 15 mph. Overnight lows will fall into the lower 60s.

Wednesday will bring us a good chance for showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening hours, as we start to tap into a good fetch of monsoon moisture. High temperatures will be cooler, generally right around 90 degrees for the Pikes Peak Region. We will have to watch for the possibility of flash flooding over the burn scar areas, as the threat for heavy rain moves in.

We will be watching for the potential for heavy rain and flash flooding once again, as storm chances really ramp up on Thursday and Friday. Expect much cooler temperatures with highs in the 80s on both days.
