Man arrested after allegedly barricading himself inside Colorado Springs hotel room

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A 20-year-old man was arrested Monday night after Colorado Springs police say he barricaded himself inside a hotel room following a family disturbance.

Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) says they responded around 8:20 p.m. Aug. 10 to a hotel in the 1400 block of Harrison Road. According to police, family members reported that David Dainty-Guilfoyle had barricaded himself inside a second-floor room after a physical altercation involving his mother and another adult woman.

Police say they learned that Dainty-Guilfoyle had multiple outstanding felony warrants out of Mesa County. According to CSPD, they also learned the suspect was a state champion wrestler and had previously been accused of assaulting a peace officer, causing serious bodily injury.

While officers established a perimeter around the room, police say Dainty-Guilfoyle broke through a double-pane exterior window and attempted to escape. CSPD says K9 Officer Cunico and other officers positioned outside persuaded him to remain inside the room.

According to CSPD, officers in the hotel hallway were able to take Dainty-Guilfoyle into custody without further incident. Police confirmed that Dainty-Guilfoyle suffered minor injuries to his hand from breaking the window.

CSPD says Dainty-Guilfoyle was booked on outstanding warrants and additional charges related to the family disturbance.
