Texas man wanted for aggravated sexual assault of a child apprehended in El Paso County

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- A wanted fugitive from Texas was arrested in El Paso County for aggravated sexual assault on a child.

According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO), 22-year-old Geronimo Soto was arrested On Aug. 5. EPSO says it received a call from an investigator with the Bell County Sheriff's Office in Belton, Texas regarding Soto's location.

Investigators with Bell County's Violent Crime Apprehension Team told EPSO that Soto was wanted on a warrant of aggravated sexual assault on a child. EPSO was told Soto was believed to be at a home in the 4300 block of Erickson Drive in the Stratmoor Hills area of unincorporated El Paso County.

The Fugitive Impact Team and Intelligence-Based Operations Center were able to use a drone to locate Soto's car in the area. Deputies were then able to take Soto into custody, EPSO says.

He is now being held at the El Paso County Jail pending extradition to Texas.
