Aug. 19 barbeque fundraiser to help Colorado Springs fire and police foundations

Seven One Nine Business Networking Group

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - On August 19, a local business networking group is putting together a barbecue to take care of the people taking care of us.

Funds from this barbecue will go toward the Colorado Springs fire and police foundations by buying 250 additional medical trauma kits and protective gear for first responders and officers.

The Police Foundation of Colorado Springs said the tragedy at Club Q proved how important trauma kits are when responding to a mass casualty incident.

Organizer Craig Tomanini, a former officer and paramedic, told KRDO how this project is near and dear to his heart.

"We spend a lot of time creating division and I think, and pardon me for being emotional about it, we need to be more focused on unification -- bringing people together," said Tomanini.

The barbecue happens on August 19 on Yama Street in Colorado Springs. There will be music, food, and fun for the whole family.
