Pueblo Police makes arrest on several weapons charges

Pueblo Police

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- Pueblo Police arrested a 19-year-old during a routine patrol that led to police locating a vehicle parked at a local park past curfew.

According to Police, on July 16, around 11:31 p.m., police saw a red vehicle with three individuals parked at J.J. Raygoza Park after park curfew, which the city says is from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.

Officials say when officers were approaching the vehicle, they noticed the backseat passenger was wearing a mask and had a live 10mm round next to him. Police say that a gun magazine was also sitting between the rear passenger seats.

Police say that, because of safety concerns, they asked everyone to exit the vehicle.

The backseat passenger was identified as 19-year-old Demetri Osorio, who allegedly also had a black handgun with an extended magazine in his seat. Police say this firearm was equipped with a high-capacity magazine and a switch allowing for automatic firing.

According to officials, Osorio immediately ran, and the officers were unable to catch him at that time.

Pueblo Police says their officers later arrested Osorio at his job the next day, July 17.

Osorio was booked into the Pueblo County Detention Center at 7:18 p.m. on felony charges of alleged possession of a dangerous weapon, possession of a large capacity magazine, prohibited use of a weapon, and misdemeanor consumption of alcohol by a minor, according to police.

Pueblo Police says Osorio was released at 2:44 a.m. on July 18, on a $7,500 cash surety, which requires payment of a maximum of 10% of the bond amount for release.
