UPDATE: Colorado Springs Police arrest barricaded suspect after hours long stand-off
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. (KRDO) -
UPDATE:
Colorado Springs Police say it all started after they got a call about a potential kidnapping around 8 a.m.
According to police, their investigation led them to an address in the Southwestern part of the city.
That's when a middle aged Caucasian woman made contact with police saying she had been held against her will and was able to safety escape when officers arrived.
But the suspect refused to come out and that's when Colorado Springs police requested back up.
"We enlisted the assistance of the tactical enforcement Unit and the K9 unit as long as well as the drone unit," said Sgt. Derek Exley.
Hours later officers went inside the residence and walked out with the suspect. The suspect is described as a Caucasian male between 45 to 50 years-old.
"He will get a medical evaluation at an area hospital, and then he will be booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on his unrelated outstanding arrest warrant and a probable cause affidavit with no additional charges related to this incident will be completed," said Sgt. Exley.
UPDATE at 6:20 p.m.: Colorado Springs Police tell KRDO13 that one suspect is under arrest after the hours-long stand-off. However, at this time the shelter-in-place order has not been lifted.
Colorado Springs Police confirmed that a shelter-in-place is in effect for the area around Lorraine Street in the Broadmoor area of Colorado Springs.
Colorado Springs Police tell KRDO13 it is due to a barricaded suspect on Lorraine Street.
Viewers called in KRDO13 reporting a large law enforcement presence in the area made up of the SWAT team members, fire fighters and drones in the area.
According to Peak Alerts, the shelter-in-place warning went out at 2:36 p.m.
