Two Colorado Springs men arrested in Teller County following car chase
TELLER COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) - The Teller County Sheriff's Office (TCSO) arrested two people on multiple felony charges after a pursuit in Teller and Park Counties.
TCSO says that on April 8, deputies observed a green Land Rover at the Conoco Gas Station in Divide, matching the description of a vehicle involved in a trespassing incident the day prior. The vehicle also displayed an expired Colorado registration.
After confirming it was the same vehicle, deputies stopped the car near the intersection of County Road (CR) 5 and CR 51 in Divide. As deputies approached the suspect vehicle it sped away, northbound on CR 51.
The TCSO says that the suspect vehicle’s speed reached an excess of 90mph during the pursuit and was observed crossing over the double yellow lines into on-coming traffic endangering the lives of the on-coming traffic. The suspect vehicle also attempted to force Teller County Sheriff vehicles off the roadway. Stop Sticks were deployed on the suspect vehicle causing the deflation of two tires.
According to TCSO, the vehicle crashed striking a power pole on Crystal Peak Drive near the intersection of Horse Creek Circle. The driver and passenger of the suspect vehicle were quickly taken into custody without incident. The downed power pole did start a small fire but was extinguished by on-scene deputies.
TCSO says that the driver was identified as Gordon A. Hintz, 37, of Colorado Springs, was taken into custody and is currently charged with; 2nd Degree assault on a peace officer (3 counts), 2nd Degree assault (4 counts), Possession with the intent to distribute a controlled substance, 2nd Degree kidnapping, and numerous pending charges. Hintz also has a warrant for Flight and Escape from the Colorado Department of Corrections, and two warrants out of El Paso County. Hintz is currently on probation for marijuana sales and distribution.
The passenger was identified as Paege A. Bolt, 28, of Colorado Springs, was taken into custody and is currently charged with; Possession with the intent to distribute a controlled substance, Possession of an illegal weapon, Possession of burglary tools, possession of drug paraphernalia, and violation of a protection order. Bolt also has warrants out of El Paso and Douglas Counties. Bolt is currently on probation for possession of controlled substances.
TCSO deputies found a pair of brass knuckles, 14 grams of suspected fentanyl, syringes containing an unknown substance, drug paraphernalia, and burglary tools when they searched the vehicle.
