Remains of missing El Paso County woman found in Fremont County, deputies now investigating
FREMONT COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO) says they are now investigating the death of an El Paso County woman, Beth Aper, after her remains were found near a roadside in Fremont County on February 24, 2024.
According to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office on March 4, 2024, the remains were confirmed to be those of Beth Aper.
“El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Detectives are aggressively following leads to understand and determine the facts in Ms. Aper’s final moments, and how she could be left callously on the side of a road”, said Sheriff Joseph Roybal. “My heart goes out to her family and friends during this difficult time. My Office will not stop working on this case until we have answers.”
The discovery comes nearly a year and a half after Aper was reported missing.
According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, Aper was seen last August 12, 2022, between 9 and 10 p.m. when she reportedly got out of a vehicle her husband was driving on Judge Orr Road and North Calhan Highway and walked away with only two trash bags of clothes and her cellphone.
EPSO says that Beth was a family-oriented woman who loved her family and never missed a holiday, a birthday, or a family gathering. Her disappearance was highly concerning due to its sudden nature and severance with family.
This is an active investigation; additional information will be released as it becomes available.
