COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has lifted a shelter-in-place for West Bijou and North 17th Street that was enacted Tuesday morning.

The shelter-in-place was issued around 11 a.m.

According to CSPD, officers responded to the 1900 block of Henderson Ave. on a report of two people passed out in a running vehicle. When they arrived, they discovered the vehicle was stolen.

CSPD said when the people woke up they attempted to flee in the vehicle. The stolen vehicle struck a police vehicle, jumped a curb, and was able to leave the scene. However, while attempting to flee, the vehicle drove over a spike strip, which popped a tire. The suspects left the vehicle and it was recovered nearby.

CSPD said the suspects then fled through the neighborhood on foot and have not been located.

The shelter-in-place was lifted at noon.
