Canon City Police Department spreads holiday cheer with Shop-With-A-Cop event
CANON CITY, Colo. (KRDO) - The Canon City Police Department (CCPD) spread some holiday cheer this weekend!
CCPD hosted its 2023 Shop with a Cop event on Saturday, Dec. 16.
CCPD says that they had a phenomenal day partnering with the community to provide nearly 100 Canon City kids with a very memorable Christmas experience.
The event was made possible thanks to the citizens of Canon City and allowed CCPD to partner with the local Walmart team, Santa and Mrs. Clause, nearly 200 peer agency personnel, city officials, school district representatives, and a large collection of private citizens and groups.
The day’s event provided the law enforcement community and kiddos with a unique opportunity to see and interact with each other in very positive circumstances.
CCPD says that a vast collection of volunteers served as shopping partners for the kids, helped coordinate pictures with Santa and Mrs. Clause in their photo shop, manned a 15-person gift-wrapping station, and oversaw a bike raffle where Walmart and CCPD gave away 40 bicycles in a drawing.
Chief Schick offered that this day was about kids, cops, and the community. The morning provided lots of smiles, hugs, high-fives, and happy tears! He added that he and his agency are immensely blessed to live and work in such a giving community.
