‘Guns N Hoses’ pits CSPD against CSFD in soccer match to raise money to fight human trafficking

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Colorado Springs police officers and firefighters are hitting the pitch for a big soccer match this week.

The match will be held at Weidner Field in Downtown Colorado Springs right after the Switchbacks game this Friday.

This year's match has been dedicated to fallen El Paso County Deputy Andrew Peery.

Officers say the event is a nice way to form a bond between the men and women who keep Colorado Springs safe.

"We work together as police officers and firefighters. We answer calls together but rarely do we get a chance to talk and get to meet each other. Soccer and hockey games are great to play against them. It is a rivalry, but it is one of those things where you get to meet them and know them by first name," officer Shawn Mahon said.

All proceeds raised during the match will go to organizations that work to combat human trafficking and help victims of human trafficking.
