Suspect in custody after shooting a Deputy in Adams County
ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO)-- A suspect is now in custody after shooting a Deputy in Adams County.
According to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began as a traffic stop in the early morning hours of Monday, August 14, and occurred in the area of E. 88th & Colorado Blvd.
The Sheriff’s Office stated that during the traffic stop, a pursuit started and ended at W. 74th Ave. & Federal Blvd., where the suspect was reported to have engaged with a Deputy.
It was reported the suspect had shot the Deputy in their midsection, but luckily the Deputy was protected by his vest.
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office reported closing northbound and southbound traffic on Highway 36 at Federal Blvd., as well as Zuni St., W. 74th, and Federal Blvd. in pursuit of the suspect.
Officials stated he was considered armed and dangerous at the time, and if seen, asked the public to not approach him.
The suspect was described as a white man wearing a white shirt and black pants.
Around 1:19 a.m., on Monday, August 14, the Sheriff’s Office reported that the suspect was in custody and thanked its law enforcement partners who helped during the incident and investigation.
The Deputy who was shot is currently being treated for his injuries.
