Unnamed at-large sexual predator targeting female hikers in Jefferson County

Jefferson County Sheriff's Office

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO)-- The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public of an unnamed, at-large sexual predator targeting female hikers in the Conifer and Evergreen area.

Deputies with the Sheriff’s Office have already taken seven reports about a man confronting lone female hikers in Flying J Ranch and one report for an incident at the Alderfer Three Sisters Park.

The Sheriff’s Office stated the first report involving the suspect occurred on Monday, April 3, of this year where “a naked suspect approached a female hiker and touched her buttocks.” The suspect was reported to have left the area but was not located by law enforcement.

A second incident occurred on Tuesday, June 13, where a naked suspect confronted a woman and began to masturbate.

Each time, according to the Sheriff’s office, the suspect’s behavior has become more aggressive.

On Tuesday, July 18, the suspect contacted three different women on that same day in which the suspect was reported to have fondled two victims, masturbated, then engaged in sexual conversation.

Monday, July 24, the suspect confronted another female hiker while masturbating and then grabbed the victim and tried to rip off her clothing.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s office stated the suspect is described as a white man, 20-30 years old, with a fit/athletic build, and dark-colored hair.

The Sheriff’s office reported he has carried a dark-colored backpack in some cases and in each incident, has run into the woods to avoid capture.

The Sheriff’s office is seeking input from the public to help identify this man as well as other potential victims. They are asked to call (303)-271-0211 to report any additional information.

Below are some safety tips for hiking from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office:

  • Hike with a friend or family member.
  • Don’t walk off trail.
  • Take a phone with you.
  • Be aware of those around you.
  • Report anything suspicious immediately.
