A suspect accused of plotting to hire someone to murder her ex-fiance pleaded not guilty

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The woman accused of plotting to hire someone to murder her ex-fiance in Colorado Springs pleaded not guilty in court today.  

Venessa Lavaty is facing charges for murder in the first degree-solicitation a class 2 felony.  

Police say Lavaty's live-in boyfriend turned her in to police after she asked him to find someone to kill her ex-fiance, Timothy Hanes.  

The affidavit said that Lavaty was prepared to pay between $2,000 and $4,000 to hire someone to kill Hanes.    

Her trial is now set for December 12.
