Assault near a walking trail under investigation by Pueblo Police

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- On Tuesday, July 19, 2022, Pueblo Police (PPD) were sent to the 700 block of Wilson Ave near the W. 4th St. bridge, on a report of an assault.

Officer found a victim who had been struck by a blunt object several times.

The victim told police he was walking his dog when a suspect described as a Hispanic male, 56" or 57" heavyset, with short dark hair, and possibly a mustache, wearing an "Avalanche" jersey and possibly shorts, struck him in the head with a metal "T" shaped rod, according to PPD.

The victim then stated he turned around and the male swung the rod again and hit him in the left hand. The victim took the rod away from the suspect and the suspect ran from the scene. Police say the suspect was last seen westbound on W. Corona Ave.

PPD says that the suspect is unknown to the victim.
