Newest U.S. Air Force Academy class trains to transform from civilians to cadets

U.S AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (KRDO) -- Last week, the new class of 2026 U.S. Air Force Academy cadets took on obstacles and assault courses in Colorado Springs.
During the week of July 14, the U.S. Department of Defense said the courses were part of a six-week indoctrination program. The DoD says this is to guide participants on their transformation from civilians to military academy cadets. This is also meant to prepare cadets to enter a four-year officer commissioning program.
The Pentagon says the training took place at Jacks Valley, a 3,300-acre training complex at the academy.
The DoD said while this is considered basic training, "completing it is anything but easy."
