Incline Apartments shooting victims identified
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- On July 13, Colorado Springs Police (CSPD) responded to a shooting at the Incline Apartments.
Officers found a deceased adult male on the scene and a second adult male with gunshot wounds. The second male was transported to a local hospital where he later passed.
CSPD says that the Violent Crimes Homicide/Assault Unit responded and assumed control of the investigation.
The El Paso County Coroner identified the victim that passed at the hospital as 46-year-old Antonio Bonner. The El Paso County Coroner also identified the victim that was dead when officers arrived as 37-year-old Russell Basham.
CSPD says that both deaths have been ruled a homicide. They are the 29th and 30th homicide investigations in the City of Colorado Springs in 2022. At this time last year, CSPD investigated twenty-one homicides.
CSPD says that the investigation revealed that Mr. Bonner and Mr. Basham got into a verbal argument in the parking lot of the apartment complex. This verbal argument continued to escalate until it ended with both men using the firearms they were each carrying, to shoot each other. There are no outstanding suspects and no known danger to the community.
