Suspect in a shooting on Sanders View has been identified

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) responded to a domestic violence call on July 9, 2022.

When CSPD arrived, they contacted an adult female who had obvious signs of injury.  

As officers conducted their investigation, an adult male suspect, identified as Mack Lee, emerged from the residence holding a firearm.  

Officers immediately ordered him to drop the weapon. Lee began to raise the firearm toward them. At least one of the officers fired at least one round toward Lee after he raised the firearm.

Lee was injured from at least one of the rounds. CSPD officers and medical personnel immediately provided medical aid.  However, Lee died at the scene. The cause and manner of death will be determined by the El Paso County Coroner's Office.

No other community members nor officers were injured in this incident.

The involved officers were placed on administrative leave per CSPD policy. In accordance with Colorado Revised Statute 16-2.5-301, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office is the lead investigative agency for this officer-involved shooting. This is an ongoing investigation and information will be released as appropriate. No other information is available at this time.
