Man already serving life in prison given additional sentence for officer-involved shootings

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A man already serving life in prison for a 2019 murder was just handed an additional sentence for two officer-involved shootings.
In April, Randy Bishop was sentenced to life in prison without the option of parole after he was found guilty of the first-degree murder of Thomas Faircloth.
The parents of Faircloth told 13 Investigates they were relieved when the jury convicted him.
"Hallelujah, hallelujah, life in prison, no parole, and I mean you can't give him much more than that. He will die in prison more than likely," Kellie Chelette, Faircloth's mother, told 13 Investigates.
According to police, Faircloth was found dead in a vacant lot in Colorado Springs in November 2019.
Bishop managed to evade arrest numerous times, two of which involved shootings with law enforcement.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, Bishop led officers on a chase that resulted in a crash in November of 2019. That chase ended in a vehicle crash.
When officers took him to UCHealth Memorial Hospital, Bishop was able to escape. Before he got away, CSPD says Bishop grabbed an officer's firearm and fired at least one shot. He then stole a vehicle from the parking lot and fled the scene.
In early January 2020, police say Bishop shot at and injured a CSPD officer who had pulled him over during a traffic stop. He was able to escape that time too.
Finally, on January 26, 2020, Bishop was taken into custody.
Tuesday, the 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office confirmed that Bishop was given an additional 48 years in prison for the two shootings involving officers.
