Seven shot in two separate Colorado Springs shootings over the weekend
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- One man is dead and six others are injured after two shootings took place over the weekend in Colorado Springs.
Colorado Springs Police officers responded to the Babilonia Bar on East Platte Ave. late Friday night for a report of a shooting. When they got on the scene, officers found two people suffering from gunshot wounds. First responders took the two to a local hospital for treatment. Police also said they believed a third victim suffered a gunshot wound and fled the scene.
This is at least the third reported shooting at Babilonia Bar since the beginning of the year. A January shooting left two people injured, a February shooting left two people injured, and this latest May shooting brings the total of people shot near the bar to eight since the start of 2022.
Police believe that one or more shooters fired rounds into the bar in the May shooting before driving off Friday night. It does not appear that anyone is in custody in connection to that shooting.
A second shooting took place two miles away less than two hours later in the early morning hours on Saturday. Police responded to the 3800 nlock of East Pikes Peak Ave. to find one man shot. The man later died at the hospital. Officers found three other gunshot wound victims at the scene. All were women and all were taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Colorado Springs Police said no one was arrested in connection to the East Pikes Peak Ave. shooting.
Officers ask the community to come forward if they know anything about either incident. It does not appear the two shootings are connected.
