Former Manitou Springs teacher accused of sexually assaulting student pleads ‘not guilty’

MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A former Manitou Springs teacher charged with sexual assault of a student pleaded not guilty in court Tuesday.
Matthew Barton faces two counts of sexual assault. According to court documents obtained by KRDO, the victim was sexually assaulted at least six times, dating back to 2009. Some of the assaults happened inside Manitou Springs High School.
Barton is currently out of jail on bond. His jury trial is scheduled to start in early October.
Might check other schools that employed him. I believe from your other story that after he left Manitou he left the country, hopefully prosecutors are looking into his activities there, also.
