COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) --On Saturday, April 30, the City of Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department is hosting a Motorless Morning at the Garden of the Gods Park.

During the event, no cars or motorized vehicles will have access to the park between 5 a.m. and noon.

The first Motorless Morning started in April of 2018 and has been a staple of the park ever since. Organizers say the event happens at least twice a year.

“It's really a chance for folks to enjoy the park without cars, the sounds of vehicular traffic are absent that morning, and you'll get a chance to see wildlife that morning in just a really special way,” said John Stark, Garden of the Gods Park manager.

Visitors can park their vehicles at:

  • Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center at 1805 30th Street
  • Garden of the Gods Trading Post 324 Beckers Lane, Manitou Spring
  • The overflow parking lot at Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site at the corner of 30th Street and Gateway Road.

Designated parking for people with disabilities will be available at the Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center. From the visitor center, will be available upon request for guests who need it.

“A great tip for folks coming into Motorless Morning, is to come early to avoid any issues with congestion so anybody who wants to come and participate, the event runs from five am till noon” Stark added.

30th St will also be closed in both directions between Gateway and Mesa.
