Multiple homes hit with gunfire in rural El Paso County, one person injured, one cat dead

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is asking for information after multiple homes were struck by gunfire Wednesday, injuring one person and killing a pet.
According to the sheriff's office, the EPCSO Communications Center received a report of shots fired in the 26300 block of Big Springs Rd. at 1:39 a.m.
The caller told dispatch someone fired a round into their residence and a bullet struck and killed their cat. Additionally, the caller said someone who lived in the 3500 block of Soap Weed Rd. had also been hit with a bullet and was bleeding.
At the scene, deputies spoke with the victim, who was bleeding from her nose. Ellicot Fire arrived and determined her injuries were non-life-threatening.
The EPCSO said the victim was not taken to a hospital.
Through further investigation, deputies discovered four separate homes were hit by gunfire. The homes affected were in the following locations:
- 3500 block of Soap Weed Road
- 1000 block of North Ellicott Highway
- 2 homes located in the 26300 block of Big Springs Road
