Home Front Military Network organizes events to promote physical, mental health

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO)-- Thursday will kick of Healthy Together Week, aimed at promoting physical and mental health in military members and veterans.

"Our goal is to connect people to the highest quality resources offered by our trusted community partners. We also provide emergency and financial assistance, and we find that we get people in the door who are overwhelmed confused we can help them in crisis need and get them connected to a lot of resources to make them whole and thrive in our community," said Kate Hatten, the executive director Home Front Military Network.

The week will feature a pickleball tournament, a 5K run/walk, and yoga in the park.

"Certainly health and wellness from a mental standpoint and behavioral health, this has been a stressful year for all of us and recent events, so I think that’s moved to the forefront in what we think people need for help," said Sallie Clark, the event committee chair with the Home Front Military Network.

The opening reception will be on Thursday night at 5 p.m. at the Olympic and Paralympic Museum.

The pickleball tournament runs September 17-19. The 5K fun run and walk is on September 18. Yoga in the Park is on September 19.
