Pueblo police identify new suspect in off-duty firefighter shooting
PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- Pueblo police identify a new suspect in a shooting that injured an off-duty firefighter.
On Sunday, June 6, an off-duty firefighter was shot during a drive-by shooting in downtown Pueblo. The victim, a man, was in a group of off-duty coworkers. They helped a homeless man who, police say, was being harassed by one or more individuals. Shortly after, a man fired several rounds in the victim's direction from a sedan parked outside of a nearby establishment.
On June 8, Pueblo police identified a potential suspect. However, on June 9, police said that man was "ruled out as the shooter." The department didn't elaborate on why that man was misidentified as a suspect.
Tuesday, Pueblo police released information on a new suspect, 38-year-old Stevan Jesus Hernandez. An arrest warrant has been issued for Hernandez on one count of First Degree Assault and eight counts of Attempted First Degree Murder.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Detective Ryan Torres at (719)-320-6037. To remain anonymous, contact Pueblo Crime Stoppers at (719)-542-7867 (542-7867) or the Pueblo Crime Stoppers website. If your information leads to a felony arrest, you could be eligible for a cash reward.
