Four arrested one sought after shooting in Otero County

OTERO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- Four women were arrested in connection with a shooting in Swink Monday morning.

On May 3 at 9 a.m., the Otero County Sheriff's Office received reports of possible shots fired in the area of West 3rd Street.

Shortly after the initial report, the victim called to report the suspects were driving a silver sedan traveling east on Highway 50.

Deputies began pursuing the suspects until their vehicle slid off a dirt road near County Road Y into a field. That's when suspects fled on foot and were apprehended shortly after.

The Otero County Sheriff's Office arrested Cara Dake, 27, Danette Saiz, 32, Brenda Vigil, 44, and Diajinae Gauna, 25.

The charges they face include Attempted First Degree Murder, Accessory to Attempted First Degree Murder, Vehicular Eluding, and Reckless Endangerment.

This investigation is ongoing, and other charges may be added.

The Sheriff's Office says an arrest warrant concerning the shooting is also being prepared for Edward Valverde. Deputies say he has known connections in La Junta and Denver.

Anyone with information about the shooting or the whereabouts of Valverde is asked to contact the Otero County Sheriff's Office at (719) 384-5941.
