Six District 11 schools on remote learning due to COVID-19 cases

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Colorado Springs District 11 decided to move some schools to remote learning following an influx of COVID-19 cases.

"Due to a large rise in confirmed positive cases with students and a small number of staff, it is prudent we move some of our schools seeing outbreaks to remote learning," said Devra Ashby, Chief Communications Officer for the district.

The following schools are now on remote learning:

  • Palmer High School
  • Doherty High School
  • Swigert Middle School
  • West Middle School
  • McAuliffe Elementary School
  • Coronado High School

However, Ashby said some parents and guardians are unhappy with the guidance the district has taken to protect students, families, staff, and the community.

Ashby said several parents posted in a social media group about organizing a protest Friday morning outside of the administration building.
